Introduction

The 78th Brazilian Congress of Cardiology will be held from 28 to 30 September 2023 at the FIERGS Events Centre and will be attended by more than 8,000 people, including speakers and parliamentarians. As one of the most important events of the specialty, Brazil will be the global centre of cardiology in the world, where doctors and scientists from different countries will be present. The Congress will present the most important clinical studies and scientific findings, as well as new guidelines that will guide the main treatments for cardiovascular diseases.

Since the Brazilian Society of Cardiology was founded in 1943, we have been steadfast in our commitment to changing the status of cardiovascular disease in Brazil. We are proud to be one of the largest and best medical associations in Latin America and the world.

We are present throughout the country. From north to south, the Society has 24 state chapters and 14 specialised sections. We have more than 14,000 members, including academics, residents, physicians and other health professionals. We have come this far because of our ongoing commitment to improving the lives of cardiologists and their patients.

Over the past 80 years, we have witnessed countless advances in cardiology that have dramatically reduced mortality rates, increased survival rates, and improved the quality of life for many. Many of these advances have been made by Brazilian cardiologists, SBC members, who save lives around the world every day.
