AACB (Australasian Association Of Clinical Biochemists)
Introduction
Australasian Association of Clinical Biochemists (AACB), established in 1961, is the principal professional association dedicated to the advancement of clinical biochemistry and laboratory medicine in Australasia and is a full member of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) and the Asian-Pacific Federation of Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine (APFCB). Its objectives are to advance the study and practice of Clinical Biochemistry and allied Laboratory Medicine, to disseminate knowledge of the principles and practice of Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine, and to protect and promote the interests of the Laboratory Medicine profession, with the aim of providing education, training, and other professional development opportunities for its members, namely, Pathologists, Medical Scientists, and Technologists working in Pathology Laboratories in the Australasian region. The aim is to encourage trained chemists to enter the field of clinical chemistry and to further encourage those already in the field to continue their education in order to serve the public more effectively.
The AACB has close links with the Royal College of Pathologists of Evolutionary Australia (RCPA) and the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists (AIMS), and internationally, the AACB has established co-operative relationships with the Association for Clinical Biochemistry (ACB) and the American Association of Clinical Chemistry (AACC).
